Canvas Art

I have several plain white canvases that have been sitting around my house for awhile and I finally got some paints out and spent the evening having a little fun.

This image has been floating around Pinterest and I had it on one of my boards to make. I love the colors and the simple message.

Here's my recreation:

I did something a little different with the "berries?" and still probably need to add a little more to cover up the right side a little more, but I really like how it turned out. Painting words takes a lot of concentration and work, especially when doing it free hand. I think I need to invest in buying some stencils to make the process a little easier. Any thoughts?

Pinterest Thursday: Advent Calendars

I would love to make an advent calendar this year! Luckily, there are many neat ideas on Pinterest to get my creative juices flowing.

I like the simplicity of this one and it looks easy enough to DIY.

This one is a little more classy, but I love the tree shape and little pockets.

Love the clothespins on this one!

I really like the placement of this one in the window.

This one is made out of old tp rolls...what a great idea!

And if you need a little help with what to do for each day,
there are plenty of great ideas HERE.

So, now i just need to start saving my tp rolls!

Side Note: I'd love to hear any feedback from those who read this blog! If you like what I am doing let me know, if you don't like what I am doing also let me know. I want to know what YOU are interested in and want to see more of on this blog.

Pinterest Thursday

So, I have a few projects in the works, but I didn't get anything done for Pinterest Thursday. This mostly had to do with my husband being out of town and a teething little one. :)

I thought it would be fun to share some of the things that I have hopes of doing soon. So, here's a look at some of the projects I hope to complete soon:

Yes please! Tutorial here.
Love this adorable bag, especially the button and the fabric choice!
This necklace was supposed to be my project this week!
Really into cowls these days! Love this!
I really want to make up a pattern for this set! And can I get this adorable baby?

These are just a few on my long list of things I want to make. What is inspiring you these days?

Pinterest Thursday: Fabric Covered Buttons

Oh my word, this is so easy!

First of all, in order to do this little project, you need a button kit. These are like super cheap, and you can find them at Wal-mart (even better!). So, next time you are there, look in the crafty section for them.

This is what you get:

5 buttons, backs, and the little push tool to cover them

Okay, so open your packet up, cut some cutesy fabric like so,

use your little "push" tool (the packet comes with instructions),

and....voila!....you have a super adorable button.

This is so easy that I seriously did this one button in like 2 minutes or less....and I blogged it while my kids ate their after nap snack. So, what are you waiting for? Go get some buttons!

You can use them for lots of things: buttons for clothes, button earrings, flower embellishments, etc...

Pinterest Thursday!

Every Thursday we will be doing a post devoted to help us take an inspiration from Pinterest and put it to good use.

This week is my turn.

My latest Pinterest completion was sewing a tote bag for Aidan to take to preschool. He needed a bag that would fit his folder and his little Elmo backpack wasn't quite cutting it.

I took him to pick out fabric and this is what we chose (I say we because he really wanted Cars fabric, but I just really couldn't indulge him on that one).

Robots!

The completed project

It was fairly simple to follow the tutorial. I say this, but have to admit that my basic sewing skills cause me all kinds of grief when working on projects. I had several ridiculous mishaps figuring this one out, but when all said and done I could whip another one up in no time at all. It is reversible too!

So, what is Pinterest inspiring you to do?
